What started as a small group of friends taking a road trip years ago has evolved into this annual event, goldRush Rally, in which dozens of supercar owners travel the country, participating in a plethora of automotive and party-related shenanigans. The Rally is known for causing traffic havoc in cities as the police-escorted cavalcade of blinged-out rides shuts down famous landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Las Vegas Boulevard. Most importantly, it’s about enjoying some of the most awesome roads and scenic views the US has to offer.
This year, for 2018, the event was dubbed “GRX2018,” marking its tenth anniversary. The ten-day-long rally started in Boston, Massachusetts, a couple weeks back, traveling through ten of the country’s most iconic cities, and ending earlier this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
For the last decade, the event has welcomed distinguished guests, VIP celebrities, and other wealthy people with fancy cars – with fans being able to meet participants, enjoy the automotive lifestyle, and check out some pretty sick cars along the way. Word had it that Kurt Busch and Goldberg took part in the rally this year. Luckily, we were able to swing by one of the stops this year in Memphis, Tennessee.
While the majority of the cars fell into the same category, that category being “exotics with crazy liveries,” we were still quite surprised at some of the examples we came across– There was everything from a Monopoly-themed R35 Nissan GT-R to a Ferrari that looks like a cereal box.
Nonetheless, we still wish we had the 22 grand to spare in order to participate in the full-version of the event. But, for now, a pit stop and some photos will have to do.
