PRI 2019: Pedders Releases Trick Coilovers For The Mustang S550

Supporting some 3,500 pounds, the S550 Mustang’s suspension has its work cut out. We’ve seen how capable these cars are when set-up properly. But, ensuring their footprint stays in constant contact with the surface of the road — all while keeping body movement controlled — is no easy feat. To give customers better control over their track-oriented Mustangs in the most challenging of circumstances, Pedders has released its eXtreme XA coilovers with external reservoirs.

Once you’ve addressed the basic handling balance of the car, getting the suspension finely tuned takes patience, understanding, and a widely adjustable setup that will absorb bumps and allow for the right amount of body movement. The further you dig, the more you realize how much a properly adjusted suspension setup is doing — and why having a few more functions to control goes a long way. This is exactly where those intriguing little cylinders sitting sidecar come in.

Greater control of suspension functions independently of one another are appreciated by any experienced racer.

The newest versions of the eXtreme XA coilovers feature remote canisters which allow for rebound and compression to be adjusted separately. These give the discerning driver and their track-oriented S550 more versatility; the ideal setups for bumpy courses and billiard table-smooth courses are only a few clicks apart.

Think of it this way: better compliance without losing body control, and improved agility without skitting over the surface of the road. The expanded range of adjustability is reflected in the price of these trick coilovers, but the eXtreme XA coilovers are for the experienced driver who wants the most from their Mustang. Factor in the full height adjustment from the base mounts which maintains bump and droop travel on all four corners and the price is totally justified. There’s even a bit more for your dollar:

Features and Benefits:

  • Adjustable Camber Plates
  • Factory Style Bracketry
  • 30 Position Bump Damping
  • 30 Position Rebound Damping
  • Remote Canisters
  • 52mm Threaded Body
  • Fully Threaded Mono-Tube Body

These coilovers feature camber plates to help ensure the right footprint on the road.

Check out Pedder’s website for these and other great offerings.
