Having the best setup at the track is critical to turning quick laps and running at the front.  Minnesota based Intercomp is known for making scales and measurement products that help racers get the most accurate data possible for their cars. Intercomp’s Precision Hub Plate Scale System has received some design changes for 2017 that will assist racers in getting the most precise information needed to make adjustments to their cars.

“In the software you can look at different measurements like cross-weight percentage, front total, rear total, left side total, right side total. In can be customized to fit whatever application you are using it for.,” McBroom says.

The basic function of the Precision Hub Plate Scale System allows racers to take their tires off the car and attach the hub plate stand to the car that has an integrated scale in it. A racer is able to then weigh the car, and make adjustments while the tire is off. This allows them not have to worry about getting around the tire to get a true weight of the car during setup.

Each system can hold 6000 pounds and each scale can hold up to 1,500 pounds. It transfers all the data to a laptop or a handheld indicator. -Steven McBroom

Intercomp’s Steven McBroom sheds some light on the new additions to the Precision Hub Plate Scale System. “New this year to the design we have added ball transfer bearings that let the car move in a 360 degree motion versus just an X and Y axis. We also profiled it more so it fits around the car’s brake rotors and brake calipers better.”

This addition was something the company did based on racer demand according to Intercomp’s Aaron Van Heel: “Due to team requests and our own wanting to develop the technology more we added the ball transfer bearings. It’s a big advancement for this product and it provides the benefit of more repeatable setups. It removes the wheel and tire so you eliminate variables like tire pressure and wheel sizes and tire wear. It eliminates the need to have a set-up wheel and tire package as well.”
