Goodguys’ Nashville Nationals: Check Out The Fun-Filled Weekend

Is there any way to make the Music City (Nashville, Tennessee), any more exciting than a typical weekend delivers? You betcha! Add a couple thousand hot rods! The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association did just that when the 13th Annual Nashville Nationals converged on Nissan Stadium.

Participants couldn’t have asked for nicer weather, unless you don’t like sunny skies and temperatures almost reaching 90 degrees. Regardless, if you were part of the extravaganza, you saw the best hot rods and customs in the country take part in the excitement.

The Nashville Nationals is one of those must-attend events for the entire family. If for whatever reason, some family members would like to do something other than spend the day looking at cars, the show’s proximity to downtown Nashville means there is something for everyone to see and enjoy. What’s more, it’s Nashville. The music that emanates from every downtown attraction gives this event personal engagement like no other. Finally, all I’ll say is, bar-b-que! It’s Tennessee for Pete’s sake.

A big change this year was the event format. Unlike previous years, the 2018 event was two-days (Friday and Saturday). But, the shortened format did nothing to dampen the fun as Goodguys extended the show hours. The Hot Rod of the Year competition – sponsored by Tanks Inc – celebrates street-driven pre-’49 hot rods that look great and deliver performance. The competition includes multiple aspects: driving, blasts down the dragstrip, and burnouts.

More than 30 cars participated on Friday’s 150-mile drive to the Holley Performance headquarters, the National Corvette Museum, and Beech Bend Raceway Park. But, pre-’49 hot rods weren’t the only rides competing in action-packed events. Goodguys’ events are known for the AutoCross course, and nearly 100 cars did battle for top honors.

We could also tell you about all of the cars that participated in the car show area, but if you’re like us, you would rather see them all. So, we’ll stop talking, and let you see what was at the 2018 Goodguys Nashville Nationals.
