The mighty 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Yes, you read that correctly — 25 hours — one hour longer than the famed (yet shorter) 24 Hours of LeMans in France. Every December, when most racing series are in the off-season, the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) descends on the town of Willows, California, to run the longest road race in North America at Thunderhill Raceway.
The 25, as it is known, is officially The USAF 25 Hours of Thunderhill presented by Hawk Performance. The race is grueling, long, and unforgiving, with multi-class racing from Spec Miatas to Daytona Prototypes. The night racing, combined with a broad speed differential amongst the multiple classes, makes for challenging competition. Teams must have a large group of drivers, crew members, and spare tires to get through the entire 25-hour race.
Toyo Tires has supported The 25 for eight years in a row. In 2019, it is offering access to the Toyo Tires hospitality area for teams running Toyo Proxes tires. Having a ticket to get inside this exclusive area will provide drivers and crew member meals on Friday (lunch and dinner), Saturday (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a midnight snack), and Sunday (breakfast and lunch). That is a lot of free grub, especially for the simple price of running a racing tire that has won the race overall four years in a row.
“Toyo Tires is proud to continue its support of The 25 Hours for 2019, and to provide extra assistance to registered competitors using Toyo Proxes competition tires,” said Marc Sanzenbacher, senior manager, motorsports, Toyo Tire USA. “This year, we have greatly expanded our lineup of competition tires, especially our Proxes RR two-groove product. This expanded lineup provides even more access to a wider variety of racers wishing to compete in NASA road racing.”
The details to ensure racing teams can take advantage of this offer is as follows: Racers must register for the VIP hospitality at the following link: toyotires.com/races-and-places/racer-direct-program. Tire purchases must be made through AIM Tire (phone number 707-938-9193, e-mail [email protected]) by November 29. Ensure you register quickly, as this special program is limited —there are only so many hamburger buns in Willows, California.
“Toyo Tires continues to lead the way with unrivaled support for NASA 25 Hour teams,” said Jeremy Croiset, NASA vice president. “Their support program, along with the competitive advantages their product line offers teams, has made them the top choice of competitors for the event. We couldn’t be more pleased that they have continued this support program for 2019 and look forward to watching how this historic event develops.”
Slap some lights on your track car, grab some buddies to help you drive all night, and sign up for one the greatest races in the world — The 25 Hours of Thunderhill. And don’t forget to buy some Toyo Tires, so the grub is free. Good luck teams!
