Look for a team of Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR RF race cars to be joining the field for the 10 race International Motorsports Association (IMSA) Michelin Pilot Cup series for 2019.
Entered under the newly-formed operation of KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering, which is, not surprisingly, comprised of joint efforts between KMW Motorsports and TMR Engineering, the team has already logged thousands of mile of testing at Road Atlanta, Sebring, Palm Beach International, and most recently Daytona International Speedway.
Driving the #5 entry will be Roy Block and Tim Lewis Jr. Roy Block has competed in the IMSA series overall the past few years, with several podiums with several podiums and a victory in 2017. Tim Lewis Jr. returns from a sabbatical Lewis Jr. as is best remember as a driver of a Pratt & Miller Pontiac GXP, taking a win in Lime Rock in 2008. Assisting with engineering is Le Mans winning BAM! Racing’s Tim Munday.
The second car, the #7 entry, is fully prepared, tested, and awaiting the naming of the driver pairing.
“We are super excited to have Tim and Roy representing our team in 2019” quoted team principle Louis Milone. “This is a historic season for so many reasons. This puts a stamp on 30 years of business partnership for Kevin Wheeler, of KMW Motorsports, and myself. Add to that the fact that we are bringing Alfa Romeo to professional endurance racing in America, I cannot imagine a more exciting season than the one ahead of us.”
The pair of Giulietta’s have built by the world recognized Romeo Ferraris S.r.l of Milan, Italy. The Giulietta TCR is powered by a 340 horspower, 1742 cc turbocharged engine, driving through a Sadev six-speed sequential gearbox. Brakes are six piston calipers with 378mm rotors front, and two-piston calipers with 290mm rotors.
The #5 Block/Lewis car is entered as a full season entry in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Cup, so it will be raced across the US and Canada for the 10 race championship season.
