Kooks Introduces Exhaust Products for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra

Like its older brother, the newest GR Supra has already been shown to respond well to modifications. It wouldn’t be a fitting addition to the flagship’s family without a mildly restrained motor aching to be tuned, would it?

Kooks Headers & Exhaust have joined the party with their new selection of exhaust parts to help the GR Supra’s B58 motor breathe a bit better. As you might imagine, the results from these simple bolt-on modifications are impressive.

Adding a larger downpipe can help reduce backpressure and bring the turbocharged engine on-song that much sooner.

These dyno-proven exhaust products include Kook’s catted and non-catted downpipes, muffler-delete systems, and cat-back exhausts to liven up the turbocharged inline-six. In addition to lowering back pressure, and thereby improving spool time, these items have been shown to add 33 horsepower and 34 pound-feet of torque. This bumps the total to a healthy 368 horsepower and 399 pound-feet of torque — that’s if we’re going by the official figures from Toyota. As we’ve seen, the B58’s official power rating is a little on the conservative side.

With the B58, mild augmentations to the exhaust system are enough to transform the character of the car drastically.

Like the 2JZ-GTE found in the fourth-generation Supra and the “BPU” modifications that first demonstrated its potential, a few “breather” modifications make this new powerplant a force to be reckoned with. Considering how an untouched GR Supra is capable of covering the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds, these improvements could give it the grunt needed to outrun some supercars.

Kooks‘ new exhaust system for the GR Supra is comprised of the following parts:

  • 4-inch Stainless Steel Non-Catted or GREEN Catted Downpipes
  • 3-1/2 x 3-inch Stainless Steel Resonator-Delete Midsection
  • 3-1/2 x 3-inch Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhausts with 4-inch Black or Polished Tips
  • 3-1/2 x 3-inch  Stainless Steel Muffler-Delete Cat-Backs with 4-inch Black or Polished Tips
  • 3-inch Muffler-Delete Axle-Back Exhausts with 4-inch Black or Polished Tips
  • 3-inch Stainless Steel Axle-Back Exhaust with 4-inch Black or Polished Tips

Black-tipped exhausts are available for those wanting a more discreet appearance.

“The 2020 Toyota GR Supra has been highly anticipated. Now that it’s finally here, we’re excited to offer our top-quality exhaust products for the street and track,” said Kooks’ Research and Development Manager, Jamie Hacking. “Our new dyno-tested products have been shown to add up to 33-additional horsepower and 34 pound-feet of torque, unleashing the full potential of these exciting cars.”
