Forgeline Wheels Expands Strategic Alliance With IMSA Racing

One of the world’s foremost wheel manufacturers, Forgeline, is expanding its strategic promotional alliance with IMSA for 2019 in support of the company’s involvement in the GS class with the GS1R racing wheel.

Promotional Partnership with IMSA

In addition to its support of Michelin Pilot Challenge live streaming on IMSA.tv, Forgeline will also be a strong presence during IMSA Radio broadcasts of the Michelin Pilot Challenge, which includes interviews, short features, and racing discussion. All of these will create additional buzz and excitement for fans listening in via SiriusXM, IMSA.tv, RadioLeMans.com, the IMSA App, and international affiliates, as well as across the Track PA at each event.

Steve Schardt, Sales Manager for Forgeline, elaborated on the alliance. “As part of the IMSA Radio broadcasts, we will conduct a fan-based voting feature called The Spirit of the Race Award. This allows IMSA Radio listeners to vote in real time for whom they feel has demonstrated what this series is really about via their Twitter or Facebook accounts. IMSA is celebrating 50 years in 2019, and in Forgeline’s 25 years of operation, we have always been involved with the series. Expanding our involvement with IMSA during its 50th and our 25th anniversary year just makes sense to us.”

The most popular Forgeline wheel used in IMSA competition is the GS1R: an open-lug wheel which was specifically designed for professional racing teams in the Michelin Pilot Challenge GS class. Formed from a single billet of 6061-T6 aluminum, the forged monoblock GS1R has a 2,100-pound load rating per wheel, extreme fatigue strength, and exceptional deflection stiffness to withstand the g-forces of racing.

The GS1R sports a unique V-spoke pattern and the advanced racing wheel technology which has been perfected over the last 20 years. The official wheel for the Mustang GT4 is made from a one-piece forged aluminum monoblock construction and a motorsport-engineered design with chamfered machining details.

The open lug center reduces unsprung weight, an important factor in vehicle dynamics.. Each custom-built Forgeline GS1R is available in 17, 18, 19 and 20-inch diameters as well as in a vast range of widths and offsets. Customers can choose from a wide variety of colors and finishes to personalize their wheels.

To optimize competition functionality, the design offers ample access to the lugs for faster wheel changes. There’s also plenty of room built into the design for caliper clearance and extreme brake fitment. For these reasons, as well as the athletic stance it brings to any racing car, the GS1R is a desirable wheel.

So desirable, in fact, that the Forgeline GS1R has been selected as the official FIA homologated wheel of the new GT4.R Camaro. Forgeline wheels were used successfully with the fifth-gen Camaro in Continental Challenge with Stevenson Motorsport. Coincidentally, the Stevenson Team will be the first team in Continental Challenge to compete with the new GT4.R Camaro—a competition-ready racecar built by Pratt and Miller to global GT4 standards.

With a major presence at IMSA events for the upcoming year, all and every question regarding these wheels can be answered to any race attendee. For those looking to try the stunning, race-bred wheels for themselves, Forgeline’s products will be available for purchase at major IMSA events through 2019.
