SEMA 2017: Logano To Battle Busch In A 580HP Coupe

Stock car racing is intense. Driving at triple-digit speeds mere inches from another high-powered machine requires a combination of cool nerves and sharp driving skill. However, that intensity can spur rivalries. NASCAR drivers Joey Logano and Kurt Busch are taking their rivalry into a new venue. They will compete against one another in pair of special cars, with Joey’s being built by Factory Five Racing.

“The pay-off was that we went against Gas Monkey Garage. They built the Detomaso Pantera and we built the Daytona Coupe. It was head-to-head between Kurt Busch and Joey Logano,” Tony Zullo, Tech Sales Manager at FFR, said of the Daytona Coupe built as part of a Snap-On video series. “We didn’t know what they were bringing to the table and we didn’t know what they were bringing to the table.”

Joey Logano will take on fellow NASCAR driver Kurt Busch during the season of finale of Fast ’N Loud in a Factory Five Daytona Coupe powered by a Ford Performance 5.2-liter crate engine kicking out over 580 horsepower.

Joey’s car is a beautiful version of FFR’s Daytona Coupe replica powered by one of Ford Performance Parts most powerful Coyote crate engines — the Aluminator 5.2 XS.

“Ford supplied us with their first 5.2-liter crate engine,” Tony added. “They hand-built us the first 5.2 ever. It’s an R&D project for us and them, so we put that powerplant in, which made 580 horsepower naturally aspirated. The 5.2 is a beast. It’s got bigger cams. It sounds pretty aggressive.”

From the aggressive wing to the stripped-down cockpit, Joey’s FFR Daytona Coupe is all business.

To find out if Joey’s Daytona Coupe is aggressive enough to take the win, tune in to the season finale of Fast ’N Loud on Discovery November 20 at 9 p.m.
