The winter can be a very boring time for racers. Most of us across the nation have to spend months just waiting for the snow to melt off to give us the opportunity to unload our vehicle of choice at our local track. During these winter months most of us are forced to live vicariously through other drivers via the internet. Which is exactly what we are going to do today by riding along with Roush Performance’s Jack Roush Jr. and his #61 Ford Mustang.
The lap showcases why you should make sometime to visit the relatively new Circuit of the Americas. Behind the wheel of his #61 Roush Performance Mustang, Jack Roush Jr. does a fantastic job of navigating the 3.4 mile course.
Right out of the pits it’s clear that Roush is forced to have his line perfect as he enters into a tough stretch of “esses” that appear to be incredibly quick. Roush jumps a few of the curbs to put down a quick lap, but then after a tight turn 11, he enters into a very long stretch followed by another hard braking zone into a tight turn 12.
The only complaint we have with the video is we would have loved to have been able to see some telemetry from the lap. It would have been nice to know what Roush’s top speed was from the high speed section. Regardless it was a fantastic lap and has us craving some track time of our own.
Oh winter can’t end soon enough…
