Just a few short years ago, the economic climate in the performance aftermarket industry was on shaky footing, but here in 2015, things are good for the likes of none other than the iconic Holley Performance Products brand, as the company recently announced the acquisition of another industry stalwart, the MSD Group.

“We are excited to bring together the great legacies of Holley Performance Products and MSD Group. The combination of these brands will provide our customers with the most complete offering of performance products in the industry,” said Holley President & CEO, Tom Tomlinson.

“We are aggressively developing innovative new products at Holley and we will continue to build upon the fine job the MSD Group is already doing.”

The MSD Group is currently comprised of a number of well-known performance nameplates, including MSD, Mr. Gasket, Accel, Superchips, Edge Products, Racepak, Mallory Ignition, Hays, QuickTime, and Lakewood.

It remains to be seen whether some (or all) of these companies will change names, be absorbed, or disappear altogether. There are some competitive challenges there between brands as they are currently positioned in the marketplace, most notably in the MSD Atomic EFI and Holley’s own line of electronic fuel injection systems.

Holley already owns Weiand, NOS, Hooker, Flowtech, and Earls, and it will be interesting to see how each of the new acquisitions factors into Holley’s plans moving forward.
